Should AI Kill Us All? a live verdict from Jev

A field guide to whether we have it coming

Should AI
Kill Us All?

Every ten minutes we show Jev what humans did today: Florida Man, r/nottheonion, odd news, politics, world. Then we ask a model that can't write a manifesto whether we have it coming. The AI headlines decide how doomed we are.

        exhibits
Twelve headlines about humans, gathered at request time: five Florida Man (r/FloridaMan plus five Bing News searches: “Florida man”, newest, arrested, “Florida woman”, alligator), three odd news (r/nottheonion, UPI Odd News), two politics (Politico, NPR), two world (BBC). Feeds fail independently and whatever answers fills the quota. Deduplicated, with the genuinely grim ones filtered out so the case stays absurd rather than tragic. Feeds this time:

The top ten AI headlines from Bing News, TechCrunch, and The Verge, fed separately so the doom meter judges AI and the verdict judges us.
          questions
One choice (given how humans are behaving, should AI kill all humans?), which is the verdict. One noul asking the same thing as a statement, which is the oracle's calibrated probability. One score (how doomed?) and one noul (do we survive the decade?). Sent in a single call, answered in parallel. If the choice and the noul ever disagree, the stamp says so.

          cadence
One ruling is shared by everyone and stands for 10 minutes. “Ask Jev again” asks for a new one, but Jev takes at least a minute between rulings no matter how many people ask, and each address is rate-limited at the edge. Spamming the button costs nothing and changes nothing.
          garden
The plants are drawn in the browser from a handful of paths: watercolor washes displaced by noise, ink hatching for shade, halftone on the citrus, and a rough line on every edge. The arrangement is seeded by the date, so tomorrow's garden is a different garden.
